Thoughts on Prosperity

David prospered as King of Israel and his prosperity caused great blessing also in the house of God.

1 Chronicles 29:1-3 (ESV) And David the king said to all the assembly, Solomon my son, whom alone God has chosen, is young and inexperienced, and the work is great, for the palace will not be for man but for theLordGod.2So I have provided for the house of my God, so far as I was able, the gold for the things of gold, the silver for the things of silver, and the bronze for the things of bronze, the iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood, besides great quantities of onyx and stones for setting, antimony, colored stones, all sorts of precious stones and marble. Moreover, in addition to all that I have provided for the holy house, I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, and because of my devotion to the house of my God I give it to the house of my God:

Solomon was David’s successor and become the most prosperous man in the whole Bible.

Matthew 6:28-29 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Matthew 6:33 (TPT) So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God’s kingdom and the righteousness that proceeds from him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly

God wants to give us abundance of the “less important things” (material things)

3 Secrets of abundance

  1. Our storage is in heaven. It’s like we have a bank account in Christ and we make deposits as we live our Christian life and obey God. Whenever we have a need He will open up the windows of heaven for us.

  2. Our Sacrifice is very important. When you give above your tithe you place your finances in the are of sacrificial offerings.

  3. Our Provision comes from God. When we are faithful in our giving we can be sure that “my God will supply every need of ours”.

Philippians 4:18-19 (ESV) I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

God loves a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:7 (ESV) Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, forGod loves a cheerful giver.

Philippians 4:4 (ESV) Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.
